If you are living in this century, you will of course have heard of the fabulous BBC series Downton Abbey which has captured the hearts of the television viewing public, and that is soon to be made into it's own feature length film! Inspired by this obsession with the quintessentially British TV series and with so many brides coming to see them regarding a wedding that reflects this era, the team at Designer Wedding Planner thought it was high time they did a styled shoot around this Edwardian style that is very much in vogue. To find out more, we spoke to Shola at Designer Wedding Planner about how the shoot came to be.
"We were asked by the lovely ladies Charlotte, Nikki, Christina and the team at The Foundling Museum in London to create a styled shoot for them within the venue, as they wanted to explore further using the space for weddings. For us at Designer Wedding Planner, this was an absolute no-brainer and we jumped at the chance, knowing we could bring out the beauty of the venue to a new audience of potential brides and grooms.
Excited, we got straight to the drawing board to shortlist our choice of wedding vendors who we felt would step up and collaborate well with us in achieving the Downton Abbey Style Shoot. Our ‘A’Team went to work immediately to send in their drafts for the shoot.
Every minute detail of the shoot was entrenched in the stylish detail of this elegant era. With the makeup very light and the lipstick only a slight tinge of colour, we used a colour palette which was reminiscent of the days gone by. The creative team worked so well together as they are all much sought after professionals in their own right – Tino Antoniou Photography and Tai from Love Exposed Photography showed they were masters of their craft and worked so well together to create the stunning lighting to set the scene well.
With an exact dress in mind to suit the photo shoot, Kate Edmondson provided a gorgeous gown that gave both a current and timeless look to proceedings. The Ronald Joyce wedding gown was supplied by the delightful ladies at Bell’Amore in London along with the long veil by Enzo from their Private Label by ‘G’ Kenneth Winston. Their gowns were floaty and so feminine with lots of layers and diamanté details all over.
Working closely with Mary from Event Décor we were able to create the set and speak with the venue to ensure authenticity and realism was held to the era. Then along with her team, Mary decorated the space with both class and beauty. With stunning floral designs, the banqueting table was delightfully set with quilted tablecloths and bronze coloured napkins.
.
When it came to the outfits, the accessories perfectly completed the look. With designer shoes from Rachel Simpson Bridal, and an abundance of gorgeous handcrafted jewellery from Glitzy Secret Jewellery, the look was truly opulent. With Kristina and Kasia from Kristina Gasperas expertly crafting the hair and make up, the whole combination paid homage to that gorgeous timeless look of that era.
Our model who was acting as the groom was the talk of the day, as being a young model he wore the handmade men's suits from Christian English with just beautifully. He created the perfect character to match with our two gorgeous female brides.
Our gold cake was lovingly created by Ann’s Designer Cakes. It was so lush and dramatic and went well with the gold and brown colouring around the venue of the Foundling Museum.
We feel that every single stylish detail was captured and the elegance of the era gloriously displayed in our stylish shoot. We had the best time organising this shoot, so if you are interested in us planning your special day.
